I am a custom home builder in Scottsdale, Arizona and run into the same issues that you face in Austin. Our biggest pests include scorpions, termites and desert rodents. The rodents also attract snakes and so the cycle goes. One of the ways we have found to control some of the creatures is to build a barrier around the property and use regular pest control. Termites are easily treated, but will need to be inspected for at least once every 6 months. There is unfortunately not much we can do about our scorpions however. There are some irritants that can help deter them but nothing is better than sealing your house along the stem, doors, windows and vented spaces. Thanks for a great blog! Great article!
