    BUILDER BREAKS SKYWATER CONSTRUCTION DROUGHT

For the first time in more than two years, a new home will be built at Skywater Over Horseshoe Bay. On June 7th, the 1,618-acre development, located between SH 71 and FM 2147, was officially purchased by the International Bank of Commerce in San Antonio for $29 million. Ground will be broken on the new home, to be located at 134  Paint Brush, at 8 AM on Saturday July 2, according to builder, Shan Jenkins. He said that the home was purchased by a couple from Dallas. The house is the fifth to be built on the street. Jenkins is hopeful that once the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course opens, it will attract more buyers, and the ones who already own a lot will begin to build homes. The Horseshoe Bay resort announced Wednesday that Summit Rock, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course on the Skywater property, was added to the company’s portfolio of championship golf courses now owned by IBC in San Antonio. “There are a ton of lot owners just waiting for something to happen out there,” Jenkins said. “But right now, this is the only house we have completed drawings for and it’s the only one we are planning at the moment.” Jenkins said there yet have not been any specific correspondence with future Skywater residents, but he does anticipate gaining some from the July 2 groundbreaking. “Skywater has been purchased out of foreclosure and I think things are turning around for sure,” Jenkins said.

  • Our Most Recently Completed Project

Posted on June 5th, 2010 Bethany Jenkins 1 comment

Custom Home Builder Jenkins Custom Homes just finished its latest masterpiece in the Rimrock subdivision located in Driftwood (not far from The Salt Lick restaurant). This project, which was 100% conceived, designed and built in-house using our proprietary Lifestyle Analysis(C) system, is a Texas Tuscan style home with all the amenities owners have come to expect in a Jenkins home. Aside from the gorgeous kitchen with its custom cabinets and wrought iron details, this home also features a hidden pantry. From the kitchen, the pantry appears to be only the standard 24 inch depth, when in reality, it opens up to the space under the stairs, giving the home owners approximately 48 linear feet of additional shelving space.

This home also features beautiful stained ceiling beams, custom lighting fixtures throughout and a great outdoor kitchen built entirely of stone and stainless steel appliances. The outdoor kitchen, complete with a seating area and TV, extends the home’s living area and takes advantage of Central Texas’ unique temperate climate.

The master bedroom and guest bedroom are both located downstairs, while the upstairs contains two more bedrooms and a playroom (in addition to the media room). The master bedroom contains the typical Jenkins closet with chrome hardware, pull-down racks, lots of shelving, and built-in drawers. There is also space for seating and for placing a suitcase when packing. Inside the master bathroom, it is the tub that draws your eye, with its beautiful chandelier above and glass tile surrounding the tub deck. Through a door at the back of the walk-in closet is a private exercise room, which also has access to the over-sized study with wall to wall built-in cabinetry.

Another special feature of this home is the granite bar which stretches the width of the media room – a room wide enough to fit three large TVs side by side. The end result is a home that is both beautiful and functional – trademark features of a true Jenkins Custom Home.

  • Construction Proceeds on Applehead Island

applehead_island_home_under_constructionConstruction is moving along well on the home currently being built by Custom Home Builder, Jenkins Custom Homes, on Applehead Island in Horseshoe Bay.  The home is framed and in the beginning stages of interior plumbing and electrical work.  This home is being built for out-of-town clients who enjoy the beautiful lake setting as well as the many activities Lake LBJ has to offer. Working with the Jenkins team from out of town has been drama-free, as the clients have taken advantage of the Jenkins web-based “Guide to Picture Perfect Projects” Personal Home page to view progress, project documents, and process change orders.  With these conveniences, the clients have only had to travel into town for a few critical-stage meetings.

Construction on this custom home began in the Fall of 2009 with the bulk head and boat house.  Those are continuing, as construction on the home continues as well.

  • Jenkins Custom Homes completes Home in Spanish Oaks

Posted on January 27th, 2010 Bethany Jenkins 2 comments

Recently-completed in Spanish Oaks is a beautiful custom home for a very happy family!  This home features the signature Jenkins rock arch, a Jenkins Waterscape pool and landscape, and a spectacular indoor/outdoor entertaining area.  One of our favorite features, though, is the doggie shower and doggie “living space” which leads to the private outdoor living for the dogs.  The owners of this home came to Jenkins with a “concept” of what they wanted and no lot.  The Jenkins team assisted the family with just the right lot in Spanish Oaks to accommodate their needs.  The Jenkins team then analyzed the family’s lifestyle, created the design, and built the home.  The home is situated a little above grade and has fantastic Hill Country views off the side of the home.  Since the front door faces the cul-de-sac, the Jenkins team opted for a C-shaped design with the pool and outdoor living (complete with fireplace and grill) facing the great view.

“It’s a fabulous view, and they really get to enjoy it all the time,” says Shan Jenkins of Jenkins Custom Homes.  The Austin Custom Home Builder says he really enjoyed working with these particular homeowners because they were so complementary of our team.  “At every step, they seemed so joyful about the process.  That kind of excitement and enthusiasm is infectious, and I think we all felt it,” says Jenkins.  “In addition,” Jenkins states, “rarely do we see these kinds of great views with this amount of privacy in a subdivision.  It is much to the credit of the developer in Spanish Oaks.”  Spanish Oaks is between Austin and Bee Cave, conveniently located off of Highway 71.
